Big
Crane fly, an insect in the family Tipulidae. This one is about 5 inches long. In some parts of the world, they call these "Daddy Long Legs" (United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland and Newfoundland), but that would be confusing in the US. Crane flies do not bite humans, and despite common belief, they are also harmless to mosquitoes.
